The Society of Registered Financial Planners (“HKRFP“) is proud to announce the winners of the “Hong Kong Undergraduate Financial Planners of the Year Award 2017”. Upon careful screening and audit of the 62 submitted cases, conducted by a panel of judges of experts and veterans from the financial community, the following four teams have been selected winners of the competition 2017:

Workshop
※Except teams form Macau, it is a requirement that each team must send AT LEAST ONE TEAM MEMBER TO ATTEND THE WORKSHOP. Teams that fail to attend the workshop will be disqualified.
Topic: How to prepare an outstanding financial planning proposal

Venue: Chiang Chen Studio Theatre (CCST), The Hong Kong Polytechnic University
The Financial Planning Workshop on the topic of “How to prepare an outstanding financial planning proposal” made on 23 September 2017 had been warmly received by the attendants, and responses were positive. Dr. Sidney SZE (施德芝博士), founder president of Society of Registered Financial Planners, presented his comprehensive knowledge on the subject and shared financial planning practical experience with all participating teams.
The Workshop conducted in English. It is requirement that each team of the UFP award must send at least ONE team member to attend the workshop. Attendants came to know more about the assessment process, judging criteria and the skills of preparing a well-organized financial planning proposal.
In view of the growing importance of wealth management and financial planning, HKRFP is launching the Hong Kong Undergraduate Financial Planners of the Year Award 2017 (the “Award”) for undergraduate students. The aims of the Award are to raise the awareness of financial planning among students and to equip them with adequate preparation for a career in the financial planning industry.
As of last year, over 200 students from regional universities have entered into the Award competition and responses have been overwhelming. This competition is open to all full-time undergraduate students studying in the universities in Hong Kong and Macau.

Eligibility
This is a Team competition. Each team consists of at least 3 or at most 4 students. Each student can only participate in one team and all members of a team must be from the same university and All full time undergraduate students are eligible :

“Certificate of merit” will be presented to top 12 teams.
2.Round Two (4 teams)
“Certificate of excellent presentation” will be presented to the top 4 teams with the highest Round Two score.
3. Final Round (4 teams):
Champion team: cash prizes $5,000
1st Runner-up team: cash prizes $4,000
2nd Runner-up team: cash prizes $3,000
3rd Runner-up team: cash prizes $2,000
Best Presenter Award Certificate will be awarded to the student for Outstanding presentation performance .

Round One – Written financial proposal in English
Each participating team should use the case provided and they are required to submit a detailed financial proposal of the given case. The proposal must be written in English and no more than 15 single-sided, single-spaced pages, with 12-point Times Roman font size, one space need (including cover pages and appendices).
Except teams from Macau, it is required that each team must send at least ONE team member to attend the financial planning workshop organised by Society of Registered Financial Planners.Teams that fail to comply will be disqualified.
Criterion
Effective use of client’s information (15 marks)
Formulation of financial goals (10 marks)
Formulation of a comprehensive financial proposal (40 marks)
Risk analysis (15 marks)
Presentation (20 marks)
Round Two – Video Oral Presentation
Each team is required to submit the following to HKRFP by email to info@hkrfp.org
- a 10 minutes video oral presentation of their written case in Round One in English and
- a set of Powerpoint slides of the presentation
The top 4 teams in combined score from Round One and Round Two based on the formula :
0.5 x Round One score + 0.5 x Round Two, to enter the final round.

Final Round – Presentation on topical issue
A topical issue related to financial planning is provided. Each team is required to send the powerpoint slides of their presentation before Final Round and Award Presentation Ceremony by email to info@hkrfp.org.
Each team has 10 minutes to present in English in front of a panel of judges followed by 10 minutes of questions and answers from the judges in this round.
Teams are ranked according the formula:
0.15 x Round One score + 0.15 x Round Two score + 0.7 x Final Round score.
