“The competition is a challenge for undergraduates and provides an objective platform for them to practice and exercise specific financial planning tools. Additional help is provided by experienced mentors from “The Prudential Assurance Company Limited” in professional guidance to participating teams and students so as to better their understandings and knowledge in a rapidly changing financial planning market in Hong Hong,” Commented Dr. Sidney Sze, President of the HKRFP.
Mr. Leung Chun Ying, GBM, GBS, Founder and Chairman of The Hong Kong Coalition of Professional Services, comments, “Hong Kong is one of the key financial centers in Asia, and the financial services industry plays a very important role in Hong Kong’s economic development. An integral part of Hong Kong’s sustainable economic growth, qualified professional financial planners can put together a comprehensive and solid financial plan to fulfill the needs of people to plan for a better life in the future. Therefore, to prepare a perfect financial plan for clients, professional financial planners must adhere to a high standard of integrity as well as seek continual self-improvement under all circumstances.”
CHAN Mo-po, MH, JP, Legislative Councilor representing the accountancy constituency, comments: “Financial planning covers a wide range of areas, including asset protection, asset management, and providing financial advice on investment, retirement, children’s education and other project planning specific to the circumstances of the client. Professional financial planners need first to be able to understand and analyze the client’s current financial situation, and to develop a personalized financial plan for him/her to achieve the desired long-term financial goals. They also need to be able to make appropriate adjustments to the plan in light of the client’s changing circumstances. This competition organized by HKRFP not only provides students interested in a career in financial planning with an opportunity to learn the related theory and practice, but also increases the awareness of financial planning among universities students in Hong Kong and Macau, providing new stimulus to the financial planning industry.”
Mr. Jones C. S. Lam, Deputy Chief Agency Officer of the Prudential Assurance Company Limited said “Wealth Management is a dominant pillar in the financial service industry. Knowledge of financial planning should be cultivated at schools, especially the undergraduates should learn to well plan and manage their future.”
The Society of Registered Financial Planners (“HKRFP“) was proud to announce the winners of the “Hong Kong UndergraduateFinancial Planners of the Year Award 2011”.
